A Letter From My Heart to Yours
dan masden
Like many others, I was saddened to read the headlines about the suicide of Linkin Park lead singer, Chester Bennington.
It was another sobering reminder that money, awards, success, material possessions, and raving fans are not the "magic elixir" to lasting fulfillment and happiness.
Fulfillment happens when you connect to yourself and then something bigger than you. Sadly, many of us forget the first step entirely. We try to connect to something bigger-- a cause, a company, a community, or a family... while abandoning ourselves in the process. This is not a sustainable life strategy and will leave us feeling empty in the long run.
With that in mind, I wanted to send some love and remind you of the truths your heart already knows, but your mind may have forgotten. Here are my greatest wishes for you:
May you embrace the challenges you face today, understanding they are not there to present a "problem." Rather, they are a gateway to facilitate your growth.
May you remember any pain you may feel today is not a punishment from the Universe. It's a pathway leading you to your purpose. When you find the deeper meaning in your hurt, you find compassion for yourself and others. Ultimately, you discover the tools to help others heal.
Allow yourself to release any resentment towards family members, friends, and lovers who betrayed you. They didn't love you the way you wanted because they simply didn't know how. If they had a higher level of awareness, they would have done better. Instead, feel the acceptance and joy which comes from giving yourself the love you have spent a lifetime waiting for others to give you.
Remember forgiving others is not about making their behavior right, it's about freeing yourself from the burden of the past. Don't forgive for their sake... forgive for your sake.
May you understand the job title, wealth, or new relationship you seek are not the real prize. The victory is the person you become in order to attain those things.
Remember a delay is not a denial. Let go of your need to control other people and outcomes. There are 7.5 billion people in the world and the Universe has to move a lot of chess pieces to create a path for you to arrive at your dreams. Everything is unfolding in divine timing. What is meant for you will never miss you. What isn't meant for you will.
May you take a moment to breathe when life feels overwhelming.
May you remember the most important question for you to answer in this lifetime is "What is my purpose?"
Finding the answer means you will no longer be a person who tries to receive their value FROM the world. Instead, you will bring your inherent value TO the world. You become a person of contribution.
Have faith, knowing that bringing your purpose to life won't cause you to go bankrupt. It won't cause you to be abandoned by those you love. It doesn't make you selfish to live your purpose.
In fact, your purpose is a gift which will serve others, meaning it's selfish to NOT make your purpose real during this lifetime. The world is waiting for your vision.
May you open your heart today, ignoring the negativity of the world around you.
May you embody love.
May you follow your intuition.
May you take responsibility to create the emotions you want to feel today.
May you be courageous in the face of fear and uncertainty.
May you ask for what you need from others.
May you allow yourself to graciously receive-- more love, more support, more abundance, more health, more joy. You are worthy of all good things and always have been.
You. Are. Enough.
Love, Dan.
