The #1 Secret to a Happier Life

I can boil it down to one word.
Progress.
The best way to make BIG changes in your life is to start small with courageous, imperfect action steps forward. This isn't some new age, woo-woo talk...it's physics.
Newton taught us that an object in motion stays in motion while an object at rest stays at rest.
Most people fail at their goals because they never initiate any movement.
Our goals can be so big that we languish in confusion about where to begin. We falsely believe we have to get it "right" on the first try and let the need for perfection keep us from starting. We misdirect our energy and focus on taking care of everyone else (family, work, friends), leaving us with little or no energy to show up for ourselves and our goals.
All of these roads lead to frustration and stagnation. But it doesn't have to be that way. Here's the story of how I learned this lesson 7 years ago.
In 2012, my marriage imploded, I was 40 lbs. overweight, battling depression and anxiety, completely unfulfilled in a soul-sucking career, and suffering in isolation because I believed asking for help made me weak.
Every area of my life was off track. I felt like a failure. I contemplated suicide but was afraid nobody would take care of my dog if I was gone. Seriously, I was more worried about my dog than myself... I was at rock bottom.
Yet, a higher wisdom within me knew I was tired of living this way and wanted to make a change, but I was so overwhelmed I didn't know where to begin.
At the time, I felt stuck, confused, and hopeless.
Yet today, my life has done a complete 180. I left my mind-numbing job own my own passion-filled business. I now outearn my old salary and live in my dream home on the beach. My work adds purpose and meaning to my life. I've co-authored a best selling book and host a podcast that debuted #1 globally on Apple. My life is balanced. I set boundaries with time and relationships so I can have the energy to show up for myself and my purpose.
How did I bridge the gap?
Did I read The Secret? Did I walk on hot coals at a Tony Robbins seminar? Did I join the Illuminati?
(Actually, I did do the firewalk. But that's not what changed my life.)
In 2012, I bought the P90X DVDs off of TV.
Seriously. That's what created the change.
I accepted that many things in my life that were out of my control. I couldn't change what my ex-wife had done. I felt powerless to change my career (although that eventually changed). I focused on ONE thing that I could control.
I set a goal to move my body 4 days a week.
After I lost the first 6 lbs, I felt a new sense of momentum. I upped my workouts more. When I lost 15 lbs, I began to set goals for my career and relationships.
Within 90 days, I lost 38 lbs, got a new job, moved cross country, and made some of my closest adult friendships in the process.
And the funny thing is, those goals I set, turned out to not be the perfect answer. I eventually learned that my job wasn't the problem... it was my career. So I pivoted and started a coaching business.
That was only possible because I stayed in constant motion. Each small, life-affirming decision I made led to more small right decisions.
Progress is the name of the game.
So...
"How are you doing? Have you reached your goals?"
Perhaps you haven't achieved the results you want... and that's not the important part right now.
The bigger questions are:
Do you have a clearly defined goal? Or are you wandering aimlessly?
If so, are you taking DAILY action to reach your goals?
Are you the object in constant motion?
Or has perfectionism, fear of failure, and putting yourself last gotten in the way?
If you aren't happy with your answers, I'd love to help you create your plan for change.
Imagine...
Being crystal clear and focused on ONE meaningful goal that would move your life FORWARD.
Being in control of your own destiny, taking daily action to keep you aligned with the things you value most.
Waking up each day with energy, focus, and CONFIDENCE?
Being supported by an expert member and a small community of like-minded people who supported you each step of the way?
What would life look and feel like if YOU were back in the driver's seat? What if you had the support needed to achieve one huge goal QUICKLY?
