Beat the Back-to-Work Blues
Guest User
Are you feeling the stress and anxiety of heading back to work on Monday?
------------------------------------------------------------
You're not alone... and this coaching is for you.
For all of the optimism of "new year, new me," research shows that January is actually the most depressing month of the year.
When the champagne wears off and the tinsel is taken down, most people are faced with the reality of headed back into the office after a brief taste of freedom, which meant:
No alarm clocks...
Downtime with family and friends...
More time for themselves...
But the truth is, you can't escape Monday. It's coming whether you like it or not.
And if you're already experiencing the "back to work blues," here's two questions to right the ship in 2020.
"What made my time off so special? And how can I give that to myself EVERY week?"
Most people are living for vacation while trying to "white-knuckle" and power through the other 49 weeks of the year.
So what did you love on vacation?
Did you get more sleep?
Did you connect with people you love?
Did you take more time for creative pursuits?
How can you incorporate those things into your 2020 schedule?
Most of us fall back into old habits of putting our needs last the minute we walk back into the office.
Your first week back at work can be a time to plant the seeds for new habits and set new boundaries, but it's not enough to know what depletes you. You have to know what is going to move you FORWARD.
"What would the highest and best version of myself do for work that would actually make me EXCITED to go back?"
Creating a work-life balance doesn't work when you hate your job.
Read that sentence again.
Feeling a sense of dread about work after a lengthy period off could be a sign you're meant to do something else.
For most people, two things stop them from even exploring the idea. Fear of financial loss and confusion about the next steps.
The good news is you don't have to quit your current job cold turkey in order to explore other avenues. Many of my most successful clients worked with me to gain clarity on their purpose while they were still collecting the corporate paychecks. Their current employers began to serve as the venture capitalist that invested in them while we plan the steps for their next right move.
As for confusion, you know exactly what you'd do with your life if money was no object. But if the fear of not knowing HOW to make it happen is a thing for you, then you'll never let yourself have clarity.
Confusion is a pattern that keeps you safe... but also keeps you stuck.
And 2020 is not the year to go through the motions and stay in old patterns.
NOW OVER TO YOU!
